Twelve ATV riders turned up to River head forest for a recce/lead trail ride. We were under way before 10am and of into the forest mist. Not long after we set off we found our first  bog, well Craig did, then we all went round it. As we were getting Craig's bike out of the bog Nick wanted to see if the bog was as deep as it looked, that muddy wet cold mush went all the way into your boots didn't it lol.

Off we go again over logs, under branches, through gorse bushes and popping out onto forest roads. (nice lose metal!!!). With one or two dead ends we had a little cross country ahead of us but that was a good challenge for all, then the next thing we know there is a bridge to cross, not just any old bridg, a Waitamata special and boy were they just that. The wider bikes were ok but the narrow bikes had to sit up on two 4x2 boards that ran the length of it, were as the others sat on the outside like rails. (nice and mosey). 

The forest was buzzing with people from pig hunters, mountain bikers, walkers, and even the odd horse rider. We looped back to the cars for lunch and some gas then away we went again over under and even two of us through a big 40' long tin tube that was over a river. Some running repairs on a 250 Yamaha and away again what a day!!!!

 

72 odd kms for the day.

A good day out and a big thanks to the (Forest Guru) Craig and his GPS and to Nick for putting it all together THANKS again guys.

Another Gravel Sprint concludes and what a successful event it was.

Some of the biggest number of riders seen at each round.The weather was great and the competition fierce.

Steven Purcell took out the King of the Hill 2010 title on his first attempt, a name to watch out for.

Approximately 12 months ago Cameron from Go Riding TV came and spent a weekend with us at AATV.

Friday night we drove to Poutu and played in the dunes Saturday, and Sunday we did a round of our Gravel Sprints in Riverhead.
